Who We Are?
Thank you for visiting Irvine A+ Tutoring. Sometimes looking for a tutor can be an overwhelming process, so I would like to make this process a little easier and less stressful by briefly introducing my background and qualifications for working with your child.
My name is Donna Linzey. I am an experienced educational professional with 20 years of experience working with elementary students. I hold advanced degrees in the fields of education and reading from Claremont Graduate University and California State University, Fullerton, as well as a Multiple Subject Credential also from the state of California. For the past 11 years, I have worked for the Irvine Unified District as an Intervention Teacher. The scope of my responsibilities have included designing integrated language arts and math programs to meet the individual needs of students; assessing learners and modifying instruction; providing reading and math remediation as needed; and building competencies in higher level thinking skills in reading, writing, and math.
The diversity of my students’ backgrounds, learning styles, and academic needs have inspired me to adapt instructional and curricula material to create successful and relevant student learning. I foster an environment of learning that engages students and encourages them to see learning as relevant to their lives, their communities, and their world. I believe in the potential of all students as learners and recognize that children possess unique learning styles and preferences. I will take the time to get to know your child and to create an individual tutoring plan that meets his or her specific needs.
